Reflexite Europe
September 26 2007

Reflexite is the leading safety solution supplier for the emergency service sector supplying life saving retroreflective, microprismatic materials that comply with current European standards for personal safety, vehicle conspicuity and more recently also traffic control systems.

Flexible roll up signs have been used in the US for years with Reflexite at the forefront providing the life saving flexible temporary roll up sign retro reflective material. It is not surprising that this type of sign is more and more becoming commonly used in Europe and the UK. David Marklew, UK Sales Manager for Personal Safety and the man responsible for Traffic Control solutions from Reflexite in the UK is certain this is just a matter of time before temporary flexible roll up signs that are lighter in weight and more visible that the rigid systems become the norm in the UK.  "The use of flexible signs in temporary work zones or at accident scenes makes a lot of sense; for a start they are lighter so there is automatically a reduction in back injuries, common amongst the traffic control workers. Couple this with high visibility film and you can see the safety element is further increased. Flexible roll up signs are a much safer and simple solution for workers on the road and therefore there is a pay back for the employer because they are seen to be offering a decent ‘Duty of Care’ to employees."

"Giving more safety to those that are responsible for the deployment of these types of signs has seen new improved more technically advanced materials being used and specifyiers here in the UK are realising that by giving more protection to the workers they are saving lives and reducing the risk of injury whilst workers are on the roads. Storage of the temporary roll up sign is another bonus because as with the case of some of the Road Traffic Officers they may need to carry up to 13 – 15 different signs in the boot of the vehicle and the old style rigid systems took up way too much space."
