Working on the road is a risky job. When construction work is undergoing on highways, the workers are at great risk of getting hit by oncoming traffic. Key factor for turning the temporary work zone into a safety zone, is to ensure maximum visibility of the workers and the work zone, allowing motorists to see the zone so early that they have time to adjust their speed as well as to steer away from the scene.
What keeps the zone visible is the reflective markings used both to mark the work zone itself, but also to mark the people working there. It goes without saying that the reflective materials used should be of the highest quality, ensuring maximum safety.
Reflexite is the world’s leading manufacturer of reflective components, used to manufacture high brightness traffic control devices. The Reflexite® product range includes reflective films for as diverse applications such as delineation devices, flexible roll up signs, bollards, cones and snow sticks.
"Our materials are really unique, as they offer not only the highest visibility, but provide the user with ergonomically friendly solutions that will help them in their daily work. Take for instance our material for flexible roll up signs. These signs replace the old metal signs that were used for marking work zone areas in the past. However, these flexible signs weigh only a fraction of what the metal sign would weigh, and are therefore much easier for the worker to carry. Also if he has to cross a road with heavy traffic while carrying the sign, the old type would potentially cover a large part of his reflective work wear, meaning that he could be much less visible to oncoming traffic. The flexible one is folded, ensuring him full visibility at all times. "There is no risk of back injuries from carrying heavy signs and ergonomically these signs make a lot of sense too", concludes Riccardo Plenzich, Reflexite’s European Manager of the Traffic Control Division.
Other key benefits of the Reflexite materials include high durability, products available also in fluorescent colours, and ease of application.
