  EN471 – When table 5 became table 4..

Reflexite Europe
September 9 2008

This year the new revision of the European PPE standard, EN471, was published (EN471: 2003 +A1:2007), and the careful reader may have noticed a rather surprising change in the standard - the tables which refer to the reflective values of the safety trims had changed their numbers!

Title of table

Old table number

(EN471:2003)

NEW table number

(EN471:2008)

Minimum coefficient of retroreflection for separate performance material, Level 2 (highest level)

Table 5

Table 4

Minimum coefficient of retroreflection for separate performance material, Level  1

Table 6

Table 5

Minimum coefficient of retroreflection for combined performance material

Table 7

Table 6

Also what was formerly Annex D is now Annex C.

Confused?

Don’t worry – you are probably not the only one. One thing does remain unchanged though, and that is that  our safety trims remain approved to the highest safety level – regardless of what number the highest table may have either now or in the future.

All of the Reflexite EN471 tapes are approved to Level 2, i.e. the highest level of the standard.

Should you have any questions regarding the changes, or regarding the EN471:2008 in general, you are always welcome to contact us (enquiries@reflexite.eu).
