Reflexite, the world’s leading manufacturer of reflective safety products, celebrated the European launch its new ECE104 approved marking tape Reflexite® VC104+ at Hannover’s IAA Show in September.

The Reflexite ® VC104 range has for long been a preferred choice by leading fleets throughout Europe as it is not only approved to meet and exceed specification requirements, but also very easy to apply even if you are no expert, and its outstanding durability means that continuous power washings will have no effect on the reflective tape. The new VC104+ range has been developed based upon input from the market place over the recent years regarding possible product improvements. As a result, the new version Reflexite ® VC104+ tape has a slightly different look than previously, ensuring an even better colour during the daytime. All the benefits of easy application, durability and brightness remain the same.

The new Reflexite VC104+ tape has been fully ECE104 approved. "When choosing an ECE104-approved reflective marking tape, there are several questions which the fleet managers need to ask themselves. Does he require a tape which he can get his own staff to apply without difficulty? Even on riveted surfaces and around corners? Will the tape be touched by chemicals such as e.g. gasoline and diesel? Are they ever power washed?" commented Emmanuel Pitiot, Reflexite’s European Vehicle Conspicuity Manager . If the answer is yes to any of these questions, Reflexite VC104+ will be the answer.

The tape has a signified e-mark to indicate that it is compliant. The Reflexite product even comes with a 10 year warranty, and it is available in special versions for both vehicles with rigid sides and for those with curtain sides.

In addition to meeting the needs of fleet managers and their teams in Europe today, Reflexite’s VC104+ Rigid Grade and Curtain Grade material is also future compliant.

In 2004 the ECE104 law was mandated by the Italian government, requiring vehicles weighing more than 3.5 tonnes to feature approved reflective tapes on their side and rear panels. This requirement will become law throughout Europe, the minimum requirement being to apply a line marking (a strip along the lower part of the vehicle) and marking of the top corners, if not full contour marking of the vehicle.

Research by the US Department of Transport has found that vehicles featuring retro-reflective tape experience a staggering 41% fewer night-time accidents. Therefore not only can the use of such tape improve driver safety and potentially save lives, it can also in turn reduce the number of days vehicles have to spend in the garage for repair, as well as reducing the risk of damage to valuable vehicle cargo.
