Since December 2001 a new regulation has been adopted by the Spanish Government. The purpose of the regulation is to improve the safety of drivers in all vehicles, when they have to get out of their vehicle during night-time and in bad weather conditions. To reduce risks to drivers during these low visibility situations, it is now compulsory for each professional vehicle to carry a reflective vest. The regulation will be extended to domestic vehicles soon.
