Dutch Postal Services introduce new uses for Reflexite® DaybrightTM
The Dutch Postal Services show that creativity knows no boundaries when it comes to branding and enhancement of corporate image.
When the Dutch Postal Services last year announced that they were going to build approximately 160 new office buildings throughout Holland, they were looking for a new and very high tech look to these.
The base material chosen for the buildings was metal. A main requirement for the Postal Service (PTT) was that they wanted their name and the speciality of the several office displayed big and very visible on the side of the buildings - night as well as day. For this project they contacted the well-known Dutch design company Neon-Weka, whose special division STIP came up with a very creative solution utilizing the high brightness of the Reflexite® Daybright materials cut out in small circles and applied to the side of the building. (This concept has now been patented by the company, ed.). The Daybright material is normally known for bright conspicuity graphics on emergency vehicles.
The plan is to fit most of the 160 buildings with large wording designs covering the entire facade. This creates an impressive visual design at day and night, as well as a clear communication statement about the function of the building, and by utilizing the high brightness reflectors from Reflexite, the message can at night be seen from afar. The first buildings have already been finished in the Spring of 2000, and can now be seen in the area 's-Hertogenbosch and Leeuwarden in Holland.
Using the good experience they have already had from the Postal Services buildings, Neon Weka is now working on several new and similar facade design projects, including a 25 meter high picture of one of the leading managers from the Postal Services. This monument is going to be visible from the highway in Haag.
